Frequently Asked Questions

Are there prerequisites for the course? Is there an age requirement?

A Class 1A or 3A learner's license is not required for classroom training but will be required for the driving portion of the course.

It is a long day in class (8 hrs.) then to go home and study for learners makes the first week of training a bit stressful.

We recommend having learners and commercial medical done before the class starts

You must be 18 years old and posess a full class 5 driver's license. Your license must be on you at all times while training and when you take your road exam.

What is M.E.L.T. driver training?

M.E.L.T. (MANDITORY ENTRY LEVEL TRAINING) includes fundamental skills and knowledge required for operating a commercial vehicle, vehicle inspections, hands-on training, and preparation for the 1A driving exam.

M.E.L.T. consists of 121.5 hours of training:

  • 47 classroom hours
  • 17.5 in-yard hours
  • 57 in-cab hours

We accept CASH, CHEQUE/CERTIFIED CHEQUE, MONEY ORDER/BANK DRAFT, E-TRANSFER or DEBIT/CREDIT(fees associated).

Payment is due on or before start each particular course.

Not a problem our certified instructors along with our simple simulator will guide you as you learn.

What if I am unable to attend some days?

We understand that life happens; M.E.L.T. is a student driven course. It is your responsibility to complete your hours. Please communicate with your instructor and we will work with you to make up lost hours.
